About Us
The Leimert Park Village Book Fair is one of the largest African American book fairs on the West Coast, bringing together books, culture, art, music, and community for an unforgettable literary celebration in Los Angeles.
Founded in 2007 in partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the City and County of Los Angeles, alongside numerous community literary and educational partners, the Book Fair has grown from its roots in historic Leimert Park into one of Southern California’s most anticipated cultural and literary events. Recognized as one of Los Angeles’ best annual book festivals, the Fair celebrates the power of storytelling while creating a vibrant platform for acclaimed authors, emerging writers, poets, artists, and cultural voices to connect directly with audiences.
More than a book fair, it is a cultural experience for the entire family. Each year, guests enjoy compelling author conversations, panel discussions, book signings, poetry and spoken word, live music and performances, art and cultural exhibitions, children’s activities, culinary experiences, and much more.
Throughout its history, the Leimert Park Village Book Fair has welcomed tens of thousands of festival-goers and hundreds of authors, writers, storytellers, poets, performers, community organizations, cultural institutions, and exhibitors—all united by a love of books, creativity, literacy, and community.
In 2027, we celebrate 20 years of stories, culture, and community. Join us for our milestone 20th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, March 13, 2027, at Exposition Park, as we begin an exciting new chapter in the history of the Leimert Park Village Book Fair.
